Artists To Watch

Twin Shadow

I’ve posted about Twin Shadow A LOT and for good reason – his music is just so damn cool. He’s one of those few artists with a vast collection of songs that I like – not just one or two singles. I highly recommend listening to his recent album, Caer, and then moving on to his 2015 gem Eclipse. Standouts from Caer for me include: “Brace (f/ Rainsford),” “Saturdays (f/ HAIM),” “Littlest Things,” and “Runaway.”

The Band CAMINO

I’d never heard of this band before but their song “I Spend Too Much Time In My Room” showed up on my Release Radar playlist on Spotify, and I related to the song title too much to not press play. So I did, and now I’m a fan. They remind of The 1975, who are one of my favorite bands. Here’s some standouts to dive into, but like every single song I’ve heard so far is rad.

LEON “No Goodbyes”

I LOVEEEEEEEEEE this song.

LEON is definitely an artist to watch –  nearly all her songs are jams.

Astrid S

One of the best, new pop artists I’ve heard in light years – hands down! I haven’t heard a song of hers I didn’t like yet. That’s impressive in today’s age of (mostly) crappy pop music. So, yay Astrid S!

I also highly recommend listening to her single:

BORNS “Electric Love”

I’m in electric love with this song.

It has an upbeat, throwback vibe that’s instantly appealing.

Sam Smith “Make It To Me”

Sam Smith “Make It To Me”

I can’t even begin to tell you how absolutely stunning Sam Smith’s vocals are. He is a brilliant vocalist and his songs are filled with such raw emotion. I’m a HUGE fan and 2014 is definitely going to be his year!

Haim. 2.12.13.

So I’ve been a fan of Haim since I heard their song “Better Off” on Soundcloud. And then I saw their super fun, youthful video for “Forever”. And after that I heard the awesome trumpets in “Send Me Down”, a personal favorite. Today, I was fortunate enough to see Haim perform 4 songs live. It was an office performance for my company. I was happy when I heard they were coming because I tried to get tix to their show with Ben Howard and Mumford & Sons tonight but yeah that failed. I’m sure that show will be the best show I’ve never been to. Ugh, still kind of sad about it.

Anyways, the ladies of Haim totally impressed me. I knew they’d be great but they were better than that. Very personable, funny, and kick ass musicians. Excited about their debut album which I believe comes out around spring/summer. Yay for girl power!
