Alex Winston “Down Low”

Ugh. This song makes me feel all the feels.

It’s hard to explain why we can’t get certain people off our minds. Especially the one’s who hurt us so deep that even the blood in our veins can feel it.

But fortunately there’s this little thing called time. And it’s sort of like this magical drug that everyone’s on and no one can come off of. And even though it doesn’t erase the memories, it alleviates a lot of the pain.

And after a while, life happens. And you meet someone who shakes you back into the present, slowly healing all your scars. Someone who gives you the strength to close the door to your past, and lead you through a new one you never dreamed of opening. And finally without realizing it, you let go just like that. It’s pretty incredible. So is this song.

Miley Cyrus “Lighter”

Holy shit. This is stunning. I can’t quite put my finger on what I like so much about this song but it’s like nothing I’ve heard before. Maybe that’s it. Either way, nicely done Cyrus.

For some reason I can’t embed this song so I highly recommend copying and pasting the link in your browser. OR you can listen to the full album for Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz here: – It’s a fucking trip.

Charlie Puth “One Call Away”

Sweetness all around.

Jess Glynne “Hold My Hand”

I love the underlying disco beats to the hook. This song is sure to get any party started.

OMI “Hula Hoop”

I know this one is going to get overplayed at some point but for now, it’s fun.

5 Seconds of Summer “Jet Black Heart”

I stopped following boy bands after *NSYNC broke my heart by breaking up back in the early 00’s. And since their magical, musical reign, the term “boy band” has continued to have a negative connotation associated with it. However, for me and my friends, there was absolutely nothing negative about it. From the Backstreet Boys and 98 Degrees to O-Town and Westlife, these talented, young men knew how to make us smile. Whether we had a bad day at school or just got dumped by some insignificant boy, these bands knew how to make us feel beautiful and uplift our spirits in mere minutes. I knew they weren’t singing directly to me or about me yet I didn’t care. The music itself made me happy. And that was always enough. Boy bands were my musical therapists and I will be forever indebted to them.

Here’s a great new track from the super popular 5 Seconds to Summer. I hope the young girls (and boys) today appreciate the bands of their generation as much as my age group (30) appreciated ours.

Lapsley “Hurt Me”

“If you’re gonna hurt me, why don’t you hurt me a little bit more…”

This song got to me. One of the best songs I’ve heard in a while.

And, in my opinion, her best song to date.

Hillary Duff “My Kind”

The fabulous, stand-out track for me from Duff’s latest album, Breathe In. Breathe Out. FANTASTIC hook!

Dua Lipa “New Love”

An intriguing new artist from London with a strong voice beyond her young years. Video is nicely done as well.
